Leadership Union |
Leadership Union returns in January 2014! This 13-week course develops leaders for Union County, Georgia to reach a higher quality of community life. Participants identify and enhance their individual leadership styles through training sessions, discussion panels, field trips, and a community service project. They also explore various aspects of our community including our government, economic development, non-profit organizations, and more. Join a diverse group of emerging leaders as we approach the kick off of Leadership Union 2014!
Mission - Purpose Statement
In an effort to enhance the quality of life in our community, we seek to develop leadership qualities in individuals who have the potential to affect great, positive change in Union County through their particular economic, civic, and social responsibilities and interactions with current and future contributing members of our community.
Core Values
- We seek to be honest and fair in our deliberations and work with each other, our community, all applicants and both those who are selected as participants and with those who are not selected.
- We seek to draw participants from the diversity of the members of our community as to best represent the socio-economic and civic diversity of Union County.
- We value the diversity in each of us as members of the Advisory Council because we understand that diversity is an asset of views, resources and abilities.
- We will use the best resources available and will seek out other resources to best fit the needs of the program and the participants.
- We understand that reaching a higher quality of life in our community is a result of positive leadership potential. We will seek to tap that potential in ourselves, each other and each participant in the program.

Youth Leadership Union |
Mission:
The mission of Youth Leadership Union is to develop the knowledge and leadership skills of young people in Union County so they may confidently become our leaders of tomorrow. Participation in Youth Leadership Union will demonstrate that in this changing and growing community, a group of people working together, rather than individually, can be effective in solving the problems the community faces.
The young men and women selected to participate in Youth Leadership Union must attend school in Union County and/or live in Union County. They must demonstrate outstanding qualities as potential leaders and have the desire to effect change in their community. Participants will be selected primarily based on information provided in the written application and secondarily by information provided by teachers and their personal reference. During the review of applications, we will also review applicant's academic achievements and responsibilities, working after school, and participation in school functions and organizations.
Participants will develop a sense of community and will discover the impact of teamwork upon their peers, their schools, and Union County.
Selection Guidelines
- Applicant must be a 10th-11th grade student living in Union County who attends public or private school or is being home schooled.
- Applicant must demonstrate an involved lifestyle in any of the following areas: business, community, civic, church, or extra curricular activities. They should be able to demonstrate honesty, integrity, dependability, with a concern for others.
- Applicants must exhibit a concern for the welfare of their school and community.
- Selection will be based upon answers provided in the written application as well as a face-to-face interview with the selection committee. This committee will look at academic achievement and active participation in school functions, membership in organizations, and work ethics.
- Candidates must complete the entire application.
- Applicant must be academically eligible for participation.
- References may be checked on all applicants.
- Participants must attend all the session.

Chamber Ambassador |
The Chamber Ambassador Program is a membership outreach and retention program designed to involve and inform all Chamber members. Ambassadors are volunteers who, on behalf of the Chamber, make good will calls to encourage strong continuing membership and active support of Chamber programs.
Ambassadors assist in membership retention by contacting Chamber members regularly to relay information, identify their concerns, and help them feel welcome and comfortable at Chamber events.

Business of the Quarter |
Congratulations to our Business of the Quarter
Tri-State Business Women
Do you want to recognize an outstanding business in Blairsville? The Chamber offers an award program for its members called "Business of the Quarter." Each quarter the Chamber will select a business for this honor based on certain criteria. The business must be a member of the Chamber and should be actively involved in Chamber functions throughout the year. In addition, the nominee must be of the highest moral and ethical character and demonstrate a genuine concern for community affairs through participation in civic groups, volunteer programs or non-profit organizations. The nominee may present any new construction, renovations, or beautification of their business that has taken place within the last twelve months. Nominations are ongoing and can be submitted by anyone! The committee to select the Business of the Quarter will be appointed by the President of the Chamber through its Ambassador Program.
